The Challenge:
Turning an Outdated Facility into a Student-Centered Success Hub
How do you transform a building that once housed a swimming pool into a modern space that supports both academics and athletics? That was the University of Charleston’s bold vision: reimagine Gorman Hall as a multi-functional center for learning, recovery, and performance. The goal was to create a student-focused space that could launch new graduate programs in occupational and physical therapy while enhancing the student-athlete experience.
To bring that vision to life, they needed a partner who could move fast and deliver both prefab interior construction and a cohesive furniture package with no room for missteps.

- Steelcase Everwall and VIA wall systems for high-performing, flexible space division
- AMQ and Steelcase furniture designed for comfort, adjustability, and long-term durability
- Design services and layout planning to support both therapy education and athletic needs
- Project management coordination with Pray Construction to keep everything on schedule and running smoothly
From therapy labs and classrooms to locker rooms and lounges, every space was designed with intention—supporting focus, collaboration, and recovery.
