The Challenge:
Uniting Teams and Enhancing Interaction
PennEnergy Resources, an independent oil and gas company, sought to merge their two separate offices into a single, central location. Their existing spaces were characterized by high cubicle panels, excessive storage, private offices, and underutilized collaboration areas, all of which limited daily employee interaction. The objective was to create a 45,000 sq ft professional, inviting, and flexible environment that offered employees a variety of work settings to support different tasks throughout the day.
The Solution:
A Seamless Approach for Faster Results
Franklin provided a fully integrated solution—furniture, flooring, and prefabricated walls—streamlining the entire process and reducing the overall project timeline from 15 weeks to just 9 weeks. Our holistic approach ensured a cohesive design while minimizing downtime and disruptions.
- Prioritizing flexibility – Understanding the post-pandemic shift in work habits, we designed spaces that accommodate various work styles, reducing the need for excessive storage and embracing mobility.
- Encouraging collaboration – Implementing a "neighborhood" approach, we tailored collaboration areas to each department's specific needs, enhancing teamwork and communication.
- Centralizing social spaces – Strategically placing a Work Café at the heart of the floorplan to serve as a central hub for relaxation, socialization, and informal meetings, maximizing the utility of this area.
- Integrated return-to-work (RTW) strategy – Successfully implemented a three-day-per-week hybrid work policy, supported by dynamic meeting spaces and workplace technology.
- Integrating technology seamlessly – Coordinating with partners to ensure power sources and technology placements were optimized, creating a customized environment that supports PennEnergy's workflow
The Impact:
A Unified and Engaging Workplace
By consolidating services under one vendor, Franklin helped PennEnergy complete the project 1% under budget while delivering a high-quality, adaptable workspace. The transformation has had a measurable impact on employee engagement, increasing in-office attendance from an average of 1.8 days to 3.9 days per week. Employees now actively use collaboration spaces, and the centrally located Work Café has become a hub for connection and culture-building. The office not only unites teams but also reinforces PennEnergy’s vision for a dynamic and engaging workplace.
