Proof That Good Design Never Gets Old

This year, we’re celebrating something special: 80 years of Franklin Interiors, 50 years as a Steelcase dealer, and 33 years of family ownership by the Dallier family.

That’s eight decades of showing up, doing great work, and creating spaces where people can do their best—whether they’re working, learning, or healing. It’s a milestone that means a lot to us, and we’re proud to reflect on how far we’ve come.

Franklin started in 1945 when Saul Franklin opened a small interior design studio in Pittsburgh focused on residential furnishings and draperies. As the needs of our community changed, so did we. Over time, Franklin shifted toward commercial interiors, helping organizations create better workplaces with high-quality office furniture and thoughtful design.

In 1975, we became an authorized Steelcase dealer—a major step that helped shape the company we are today. That partnership gave us access to world-class products and research, and it aligned us with a brand that shares our values around innovation, performance, and people.

In 1992, Ralph and Toni Dallier purchased the business and brought a new level of energy, vision, and momentum. Under their leadership, Franklin has more than tripled in size. We’ve expanded into flooring, added prefabricated construction through our partnership with Falkbuilt, and continued to evolve to meet the changing needs of our clients.

A big part of our success comes from the people behind the scenes. Many of our team members have been with us for decades. In fact, our average employee tenure is 11 years—something we’re incredibly proud of. That kind of experience leads to better results, stronger relationships, and a deep sense of pride in the work we do.

Today, Ralph and Toni’s daughter Jackie is helping lead what’s next. Since joining Franklin in 2020, she’s been driving innovation across our services, especially in flooring, prefabricated construction, and how we deliver projects from start to finish.

Through all the change and growth, one thing has stayed the same: our commitment to being a trusted partner. We believe great spaces start with strong connections—and that clear communication, consistency, and care make all the difference. We’re proud to be a family-owned business with deep roots, a dedicated team, and a shared passion for the work we do. We’re grateful for the trust our clients place in us—and for the people who’ve helped shape Franklin over the years.

To every employee, partner, and client who’s been part of our story—thank you! Here’s to the next chapter.

(And while we’re looking ahead, it’s always fun to look back—check out some of our favorite moments through the years.)
